A Dozen Destinations


12 foreign places I’d love to visit, in no particular order:


  • the Temple in Jerusalem

  • the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem

  • the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris

  • Westminster Abbey in London

  • Shakespeare’s birthplace and grave in Stratford-on-Avon

  • that 130-foot statue of Christ in Rio de Janeiro

  • the Pyramids and the Sphinx in Giza

  • a really, really big glacier in Alaska

  • a pub on the English moors (maybe near Tolkien’s home)

  • a shady terrace on the French Riviera

  • St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City

  • the excavations of Aristotle’s Lyceum in Athens
