The Tick was a series that was on a few years ago, a live-action superhero spoof featuring Patrick Warburton – Puddy from Seinfeld – as the eponymous crimefighter. It was the kind of show where the buzz was good and the concept seemed daring and probably had the requisite amount of weirdity for me to enjoy. Sadly, though, I never got around to watching a single episode. However, the entire series is now available of DVD.
Here’s a sample of dialogue, spoken by The Tick:
“Everybody was a baby once, Arthur. Oh, sure, maybe not today, or even yesterday. But once. Babies, chum: tiny, dimpled, fleshy mirrors of our us-ness, that we parents hurl into the future, like leathery footballs of hope. And you’ve got to get a good spiral on that baby, or evil will make an interception.”
